The Cadoma Foundation was incorporated in Wyoming in 2006 as a non-profit corporation committed to the preservation of Wyoming’s Historic Properties. With a 5-member voluntary Board of Directors, the Foundation announced its existence and began development of the start-up foundation in the last two years. One of the first accomplishments was to develop a mission statement and a three-year strategic plan. As we approach the end of our second year, I am pleased to summarize our accomplishments and announce our plans for 2009.
The Cadoma Foundation’s purpose to ensure historic places are preserved in perpetuity by fostering a strong ethic supporting stewardship of historic places and acquiring, maintaining, restoring, and preserving historic building is the State of Wyoming.
1. Advocate for strong policies and financial incentives to support preservation.
2. Provide direct support and resources to help local preservation efforts.
3. Serve as strong stewards of historic properties.
· Representatives from the Cadoma Foundation participated in the Governor’s Envision Wyoming Conference, Wyoming Statewide Preservation Conference, National Trust for Historic Preservation Wyoming Oversight Committee, and Preserve America Seminar.
· The Foundation developed its website, www.cadomfouondation.org and a Wyoming preservation “blog” to promote and highlight preservation issues in Wyoming.
· The Historic Bishop Home was donated to the Cadoma Foundation along with an endowment.
1. Continue to work with Preservation Partners at the local, state, and national level to develop the historic preservation movement in Wyoming.
2. Continue development and maintenance of the Foundation’s website.
3. Explore with selected property owner’s the interest and potential for listing additional properties in Natrona County Wyoming on the National Register and assist with their development..
4. Complete an architectural study of the Bishop Home to develop a renovation plan and begin discussions on the future use of the Bishop Home.
5. Complete renovation and restoration of bathrooms
1. Provide information to key audiences on preservation issues and opportunities.
2. Promote connections between preservation and other important community issues.
· Two full-page articles were published in the Casper Star Tribune about the Cadoma Foundation, the Bishop Home, and the importance of historic preservation in Wyoming.
· Events at the Bishop Home were featured on local television.
· Representatives attended the National Trust for Historic Preservation conference in Minneapolis, MN as recipients of Diversity scholarships.
· Drafted a position paper in cooperation with the Alliance for Historic Preservation on the importance of the preservation of Natrona County High School.
1. Continue promoting the Cadoma Foundation to the community.
2. Join the Chamber of Commerce.
3. Continue to work on the future of NCHS in cooperation with the Alliance for Historic Preservation
4. Develop a power point on Historic Preservation presentation for civic groups.
1. Build a strong involved Board of Directors.
2. Develop staffing structure to support the efforts of the foundation.
3. Develop funding to support the needs of the organization.
4. Raise the visibility of the foundation statewide.
5. Strengthen the organization systems to support the efforts of the foundation
· Welcomed Jefferson Glass to the Board of Directors.
· Added contract staff to support the maintenance of the Bishop Home and provide service during fund raising activities.
· Fund- raising activities initiatives to sustain the Foundation and the Bishop Home included High Teas, Selling See’s Candy, and Local Artist Show and Sale.
· The Bishop Home was rented for several private events.
· Brochures were developed for both the Bishop Home and the Cadoma Foundation.
· Introductions of the Foundation were made to the Local Preservation Office, the Historical Societies, the State Preservation Office, the Wyoming Main Street Program, and the Downtown Development Authority.
1. Consider adding two new members to the Board of Directors.
2. Continue fund-raising events.
3. Look for additional revenue streams to support the Foundation.
4. Research and apply for grants to continue development of the Historic Bishop Property.

WHAT A YEAR!
As we look forward to a new year, we pause to express gratitude for the many blessing we received last year through the generosity and support of our community. In 2008, our emerging Cadoma Foundation made great strides toward preserving Wyoming’s heritage.
Our accomplishments are many; here are just a few that really stand out....
· The Cadoma Foundation officially received a charitable non-profit determination as defined in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code on June 7, 2006.
· During our first year of operation, The Cadoma Foundation was pleased to accept custodial ownership of the Bishop Home located in Casper, Wyoming.
· Since assuming ownership of this historic home, over 3,580 people visited and participated in events such as Teas, Local Artists’ Shows and Sales, Small Weddings Birthday Celebrations, High School Reunion Activities and other private events.
· In appreciation for the community support, a Donor Reception and wine tasting was held in July 2008.
One of our major goals for 2008 was to start the restoration process of this historically significant home. In November we completed the construction to reopen the central hallway and reconstruct the main floor restroom. The original second floor bathroom is under restoration and will be completed by the end of the year.
Future restoration plans for the Bishop Home include a sustainability demonstration project to restore the air flow of the home to its original “green” standards, repairing its 100+ years of plaster cracks, and upgrading the kitchen to accommodate small catering functions and still maintain the historic character of the home.
As we continue to make The Bishop Home available for tours, afternoon teas, anniversaries, receptions, bridal and baby showers, business meetings and more – we thank the individuals and corporations who have contributed and supported us in the past. We look forward to your continued support and interest as we work to preserve the Bishop Home and raise the consciousness of the need for historic preservation in Wyoming. We are an all volunteer board. All donations are tax deductible and used to support the ongoing operations and restoration of the Bishop Home and the development of the Cadoma Foundation. The Cadoma Foundation welcomes the opportunity to send acknowledgments for donations made in memory, in honor, or in celebration of special people and events in our lives.
Your continued support is greatly appreciated!
